Texas tech is hosting the SPICE Spring Invitational' Chess Tournament.
Among the players was 13-year-old Darwin Yang. Darwin is a middle-schooler from Plano who is just a few matches short of becoming an International Master.

"It's not only that I'm young it's usually that these people i play against are usually stronger than me I'd say. So they underestimate me sometimes," Darwin said.
