I am trying to construct a chess park in a small city in Mexico. I need information on how the tables are made. Most important, how is the chess board inlaid into the table which I assume is cement. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found the SPICE Invitational interesting. Noticed from the photos that there were used electronic chess boards which record games automatically. I would like to review the game between Darwin Yang vs Marc Esserman which Yang won for his IM qualifying title. My children attended the SPICE chess tournament at Lubbock High recently and loved it. Thank you so much for doing it. My 4-year-old already loves chess and even at her young age is quite precocious and really enthusiastic about the game. I would love to see other children exposed to that.

We live in the small community of New Deal, just 5 minutes north of Lubbock. Finacially, this community may be limited but when it comes to heart, it is not. I wanted to invite your program to be involved in a community program we're going to host on June 5 - the Independence Celebration. It is our small community's largest gathering and pulls visitors from Lubbock, Abernathy, Idalou, Shallowater and other surrounding towns. The event will include a parade (10 a.m.) and street fair (on Monroe Street across from the school) that is free. The kids love it. At the street fair, everyone sets up different attractions, challenges, and games then gives out some prizes. (For example, my husband, I and our church are building and opperating a very small miniature golf course for the kids this year, a bowling lane, and a ring toss.) Later in the evening there will be a dance, concerts and dinner - the proceeds of which support our volunteer fire department. This is a civic event and all members of the community become involved.

What I'd really appreciate is if some member of your organization could come and take part in the parade, or perhaps set up a big chess board at the street fair. I'd love to get kids here excited about chess. If you have the time or are available, I hope you'll come and share in the fun.

If you know of anyone else who would be willing and able to take part in this event, please pass my information along. I really thank you very much, for everything.

What a great win that was along with the bowl win and ending up ranked in the top 25 in both polls in the last 2 out of for years. It would be huge for Texas Tech to win the college football championship in 2008, but many of us are just as excited about he potential Texas Tech has to achieve greatness through SPICE. Maybe y'all should look into working with the athletic department to increase the chess support endowment (or whatever it is called) through autographed sports items, Bobby Knight fundraiser, etc.

Yes it is. One of the columns has to be as the post says that performance ratings are included.
You can see that the first ELO column is their actual ELO, as they didn't finish up in descending order of ELO.
However, the last column is in descending order, except where players have the same number of points - in which case, the better you were thought to be, the lower your performance rating.

Agreed, SP ought preferably to 'label her axes' but I think the data is obvious enough.
